Red Lace

The model of this red shawl was oh so pleased to display it. (You can tell by the smug look on her young face.) It started out as a neutral silver gray, but I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I dyed it with a tomato red dye to come up with this cranberry color. It's knit Shetland style with no cast off edge, but in a triangle, rather than the traditional square. It's more than a pretty accessory. Because it's 100% alpaca, it actually quite warm, holes and all. I'm not sure I like the color, but I very much like the design of it--simple Turkish faggoting in the center, plowed acre for the wide border and an eyelet sawtoothed edge--all the easiest of lace stitches, but with a nice effect overall, I think.

Now, how about some help with how to take better pictures?

Oh goody I am the first for comment. Hello Wooly Works, I agree the model in picture looks really lovely, and displays the pretty Red Shawl so well.

I have a friend here in England who adores Shawls, do you import to this Country at all.

Gorgeous shawl and sweet model! I quite like that colour, Wooly Works. It is rare these days to see a red shawl - black everywhere and I am a 'red' person. I am enjoying your blogs!

Just read through your blogs and you're sure one busy lady. My passion is fabric although I have done a bit of knitting - your work is lovely like your sisters. I love the picture of the llamas on the truck.

I am not really a red person, somehow I look washed out in it, but I must say the shawl is beautiful. I crochet a beautiful shawl for my son when he was born, it was wool and silk and I had to do a very fine row of silk starting very small like a spiders web and then do a row of fine wool which was passed over a ruler to make it like a web, it took ages but looked lovely.

It is absolutely lovely and and just my colour. Sadly I don't think I could compete with the lovely young model.

Love your shawl, am hopeless with things like that - no patience I'm afraid, so deeply admire People Who Can. And lucky you to have such a lovely, smiley model to enhance the range! Alpacas have become very popular here in NZ especially on small lifestyle blocks as you can carry so many more than cattle per acre and they are sooooo adorable, everyone wants one! There is a stud farm out at the Tutukaka Coast here at www.alpacas.co.nz which I have visited and much admired the goods in the shop and fallen in love with the "inmates"!

Beautiful work!

This chilly afternoon found me working on my eternal knitted patchwork coverlet (begun to used up all my 4-ply yarn, but somehow continued on an on as I continue to buy more yarns.)

Do you ever contribute the the purlbee blog of New York's great little yarn shop, purlsoho.com ?

Happy knitting!

I think that's a super shawl. Not sure I would choose red for me, but I love the colour, and the design is gorgeous, very fine.

Camilla asked if you import to this country - do you? I'd love to buy one.
